University of Texas Medical Branch-Galveston

Established in 1891 as the University of Texas Medical Branch-Galveston, UTMB has grown from one building, 23 students and thirteen faculty members to a modern health science center with more than seventy major buildings, more than 2,500 students and over 1,000 faculty. Our 84-acre campus includes four schools, three institutes for advanced study, a major medical library, a network of hospitals and clinics that provide a full range of primary and specialized medical care, an affiliated Shriners' Burns Hospital, and numerous research facilities. We are a component of the University of Texas System.

We are a full-service health care institution; clinical services range from primary care to specialty and sub-specialty services in all of the major medical disciplines. We also offer a variety of non-medical services that provide social and spiritual support to our patients and their families.
