Driscoll Children's Hospital is a major training facility for pediatric medicine in South Texas. We offer both an ACGME-approved pediatric residency program with ten positions in the ACGME and four in the AOA residency for each year of training.
During the last seventeen years, 69% of our graduates have chosen general pediatric practice, seventy-six percent have remained in Texas, and over fifty percent who chose a sub-specialty have returned to Texas, particularly to South Texas. Thus, Driscoll Children's Hospital has truly fulfilled the mission envisioned by Clara Driscoll in improving the healthcare of children in South Texas. Not only has our institution been effective in training primary care pediatrics for South Texas, we have also provided the children of south Texas access to sub-specialty care in their own community by residents who initially completed their training right here at Driscoll Children's Hospital.
